Full-Year Garden Science Program for K-12

Farming the Future offers a full-year garden program for K-12 that teaches core science concepts and 21st century skills with an agriculture focus. Students learn and practice science while also harnessing important SEL skills in an equity-focused environment. The program is ideal for 100-400 students and can serve 1-4 classrooms.

How the Program Works

The Full-Year Garden Science Program turns any 10’x10’ space into an outdoor classroom. It can be used as a standalone garden or as an addition to a larger existing school garden. The garden is guaranteed to be successful regardless of the underlying soil — it can even be placed directly on paved surfaces! Teachers incorporate digital lesson plans into their instruction that include vocabulary, scripted lessons, garden maintenance, worksheets, and interactive videos. The program provides year-round harvest, learning, and fun!

Our classroom hydroponic systems include everything you will need to operate this fun STEM Production Lab and are fully automated grow racks that grow microgreens, plus fruits and vegetables. The self-watering system is automatic, so simply maintain the amount of water stored in the tank and the system grows itself. Our prescribed projects and methods are from both professional educators and commercial growers.

 

About the Kits

FTF’s K-12 STEM Microgreens Kit is perfect as a take home or in class project. These kits are typically bundled with one of our Table Top Living Labs for students to be able to apply their in-class learning at home. However, these are great stand-alone projects for enrichment, camps, homeschool, or afterschool. Engaging for any k-12 student or adult, one kit provides everything needed to grow hydroponic microgreens.

 

Easy to build and maintain raised garden bed that conveniently fits in the smallest of outdoor spaces! We can appreciate how difficult it can be to justify taking kids to a garden, which is why our curriculum is intentionally aligned to NGSS.
